Fairly-roasted malt with some caramel/toffee taste as well as a certain earthiness to the underlying malt. On top of this lies some of the oak/wood flavors as well as characteristics of chocolate and hints of vanilla. A bit of bourbon in there, too.

Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

Pours a very nice clean/clear, dark golden orange color, nice carbonation, nice little fizzy off-white head, some islands and sticky lacing follows. The nose is pretty hoppy, with some malts thrown in, citrus, and some pines. The taste is hoppy, with some nice maltyness, with some citrus and pines. Medium body, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Very drinkable, this is a very tasty IPA, a classic in the making.

Beer is almost black. A thin and bubbly brown head has yellow tinting to it. The rimming leaves some evenly placed rings down the sides of the glass. Some dry cocoa powder, baker's chocolate and vanilla bean on the nose. The flavors are so smooth in this porter. I think the oak barrel aging gives this beer some of its smoothness. And also a little woodiness on the palate. There's some nice bittersweet chocolate tones in this one. And a little smoke. And some vanilla mixed with bitter and slightly piney hops. The best part of the experience is the chalky residue of cocoa dust left on the tongue after the swallow. The mouthfeel is velvety and body about medium
