Great Divide Claymore Scotch Ale Manufacturer: Great Divide ABV: 7.7%
Burnt caramel, up front, with a developing brown bread character that adds a bit of peaty earthiness by mid-palate; after the swallow, the caramel is subsumed by the smoky, peaty character
Innus & Gunn Oak Aged Manufacturer: Innus & Gunn ABV: 6.6%
Tastes like it smells, with toffee dominating up front and no real development until the swallow, when a slight hop presence kicks in to balance the sweetness; there clearly is diacetyl in the mix but it goes perfectly with this style; overall, the experience will remind you of a low key whisky, without the burn
Innus & Gunn Rum Cask Manufacturer: Innus & Gunn ABV: 7.4%
Pours a clear dark ruby red, almost a cherrywood colour, decent thick off white head forms, drops some nice lacing on the glass, settles to a thick ring and decent layer. Smell is neat, vanilla, oak, citrus, a bit of spice, caramel, sugarcane, light sourness, quite fruity, almost a pineapple thing going on, neat. Taste is pretty good, kind of light, oaky sourness, vanilla and caramel, rum and bananas, brown sugar, raisin, some fruit, buttery, not bad. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation, buttery smooth stuff
